Well if you’re looking for a love story with lots of hot, steamy sex scenes, this is the book for you. Raven has been in love with Reno since she was a child and although he had feeling for her he knew he was too old for her at the time. He went off and joined the navy SEALS and has returned home on furlough knowing that Raven is now old enough to make his move, and to claim her as his.
Raven tries to keep Reno at arm’s length, but she’s fighting a losing battle and before long they’re swept away by passion. And burn up the sheets they most certainly do. Raven watched what the years of being the wife of a SEAL did to her mother with the fear and bitterness destroying her parents’ marriage until the day they were notified of her father’s death in action. Somehow Reno has to convince Raven that doesn’t have to be them. Can she let go of the fear that history will repeat itself, and like her father Reno will be killed in action? Finally, she admits to herself that she indeed has fallen in love with Reno. What she has to do now is decide whether or not Reno and their love is worth the risk and take a chance.
Overall, I found this book pretty straight forward. Sometimes there are so many characters in a book, and things going on I can’t keep up… this book isn’t like that. It extremely simple and straight forward, a few other character are mentioned, but they play minor roles. There’s no mystery to uncover, no surprise offence that has to be atoned for halfway through the book, no surprise reveal of a long held secret… nothing to shake things up. Just a simple love story with a lot of sex. If you like that, then you’ll probably love this book. Personally it left me feeling like this book was a little shallow in the depth department, which is why, although I like sex as much as the next guy, I’m giving it a 3 on a scale of 1-5.
However, on the heat scale I’m giving it an 8 on the scale of (1-10), both from frequency of sex, and descriptive context. Not the hottest thing I’ve read, but pretty hot indeed.

If you are interested in reading a book that only has sex in it with no clear plotline beyond segueing into more sex, than by all means, this book is for you. However, if you are interested in love and romance, steer clear because this book is not what you are looking for. I am an avid reader of all things romance, and I, too, can appreciate well written love scenes. Unfortunately for me, this book had nothing more to offer.
Reno' s story may have been short, but Lora definitely made up for it by making almost every page scorching hot! Oh my goodness Reno was so sexy and dominant, that I almost forget who his love interest was. No, wait! Who is his love interest again? Oh yeah, yeah, uh Grumpy. Oops! I meant Raven. Any way Raven is stubborn about having a relationship with her childhood friend and crush, because he has a dangerous job. Lucky for us we get to read about how he changes her mind over and over, and many orgasms later. Get this book, immediately!!
I like to try new authors and I made the mistake of buying several of Lora Leigh's books before I actually read any. Wow, what a disappointment. This short story had about 10 pages (if that) of actual dialog and the rest was dedicated to having sex in as many ways as she could describe. There was no real story to this book. She didn't develop the characters, nor did she have any real back story. Wish I could get a refund!
It was only because of this book that I decided to check out others by Lora Leigh. Now, I don't always like some of the things she's into or writes about (i.e. Forbidden Pleasures stayed in the store once I sampled it). It's just something about military or special ops men taking control of a situation. And, the women are not wimps. That also makes this series different from the Naughty Boys series. Those women were weak but then I realized she must like writing about submissives and multiples. This story is short but, if you haven't read any of the others in this series, check some of those out. She writes steamy sex borderline erotica/porn. After about the third book, the sex is the same. And all these men can't be having sex the same.
I was looking for another military book to read and another blogger suggested Lora Leigh's Tempting Seals series to me. Where have I been all this time and why did I not try out any of Lora Leigh's books before? I freaking loved Reno's Chance and this was just a novella. I can't wait to get into the other books in the series. I had a hard time putting down my . In fact I read this novella, whenever I could sneak it in between books I had to review and in between college assignments. I even read it while waiting for my daughter to get out of school one day. (I bet the parents around me saw me blushing and saw my smile while reading this novella….LOL)
The heat level in Reno's Chance was scorching and I loved both Reno and Raven. Even when it's a short novella, Lora Leigh managed to make it one hot little number of a story. Holy crap just thinking about it...!!! =)
Reno was the sexy determined Navy Seal trying to get the beautiful Raven to become more than just friends. They had known each other for years, but Raven did not want to start anything with Reno due to her worries of losing him. Reno's a Navy Seal, so she is definitely allowed to worry. Reno though wants to reassure her that it will be worth it, and he will do anything to be with her and show how much he loves her.
I loved how Reno would constantly chase after Raven and Raven would continuously run off. She didn't make it easy for him, but Reno knew if he continued to chase after her, she would eventually give in.
If you are looking for a quick read with some very heated sexual moments with a Navy Seal and lots of romance then this is the book for you.
I give this novella 5 full moons and look forward to diving into the next book in the series. This was a great start to what is to come in the next books. It sure peeked my interest. =) I LOVE me some military romance books with a very sexy Navy Seal.
